Using the Education Longitudinal Study of 2002 (ELS:2002), this study explores the factors that relate to the educational attainment levels of English Language Learners (ELLs). Results from this study suggest that academic GPA, math and science coursetaking, and parental education are significantly related to ELLs’ educational attainment levels, where a higher GPA, taking advanced math and science courses, and higher parental education increases the odds of ELLs attaining a bachelor’s degree or higher. Identifying these factors allows educators, counselors, and researchers to develop interventions to promote successful educational outcomes for ELLs.
