The purpose of this qualitative historical literature review study is to investigate effects of colonialism on education and technology on Sub-Saharan Africa and the extent colonialism affects the development of technology in Sub-Saharan Africa. The study discusses educational policies during and after colonial rule in relation to higher education in general. After independence, several colonized countries had a paradigm shift to try to educate natives and the growth rates were quite spectacular in some countries. They found that despite independence and increased numbers of education institutions, there is still need to improve, attitude and government policies to introduce technologies and educational facilities and curricula that meet 21st Century practices.
