Mon, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Third Floor, Americas Hall 1-2 - Exhibit Hall

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to classify latent profiles based on purposes of smartphone use in adolescents, and to verify the predictive and outcome variables. The results were as follows: 1) The latent profiles were classified into five groups, which are the playing games and entertainment group, the middle-level group, the messaging with friends and listening to music group, the calling and messaging group, and the high-level group. 2) All predictive factors were significant. 3) The outcome variables, cyber delinquency and smartphone dependency, were significantly different by groups. This study is meaningful in that the levels of various purposes of smartphone use were used as indicators for classification, and that all causes and results for classification were verified.
