Global migration brings more diversity and challenges to schools around the world. Research internationally often focus on language proficiency and segregation of immigrant students in urban communities. The aim of this ethnographic study is to explore how a rural school in Iceland work for inclusion of immigrant students. The concepts of inclusion and agency of social spaces are used as a critical lens in data analysis. The findings suggest that the community works together for inclusion of all students, by approaching each individual according to their needs and abilities. I will argue that this has implications for schools and policy makers’ approaches to inclusive schooling.
