In this project, we used the results from a multiple-choice test with 100 items and applied multidimensional scaling (MDS) method to create a pseudo-distance map between students. By obtaining this “pseudo-map”, we detect not only the groups of students who have similar answer patterns but also, more importantly, detect possible cheating behaviors in classroom. Two validity tests that taken into account the seating positions were used to verify our result. Our research has significant impact in the era when high-stake testing has become more popular.
