Implementation of an Elective Bible Course in a Public High School: Implications for School Leaders

Mon, April 16, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Crown Plaza Times Square, Floor: 15th Floor, Room 1503

Abstract

This case study examines stakeholders’ experiences with the implementation of a high school elective Bible course in a suburban district in a Midwestern state. We suggest a set of guidelines for school leaders who are considering implementing an elective Bible course. We hope the study will help improve educational policy and practice by providing leaders a better understanding of the challenges faced by our participants so that policy and curricula can be adopted that respect students’ rights and are appropriate for public schools in culturally pluralist democratic societies.
