From Shona to Arabic, English to Spanish: A Self-Study of Teacher Education

Mon, April 16, 8:15 to 9:45am, Sheraton New York Times Square, Floor: Second Floor, Metropolitan East Room

Abstract

Teacher educators share what they learned from their experiences providing teacher education in several countries in Central America, Africa, and Europe. The focus is how language –especially second language proficiency—affects literacy learning. The researchers examined their growing knowledge and skill related to language and its impact on educational systems in a global context; and the subsequent integration of that new knowledge into their teaching at a Mid-Atlantic American university.
