This presentation explores the interfaces between ChildhoodNature, the Anthropocene and the crisis of sustainability (Somerville, 2016). Here we define the latter constructs and address education as a response to the social, environmental, political and economic challenges of global sustainability and the call of the Anthropocene (Malone, Truong, & Gray, 2016). The authors in this section (of the Handbook and Collective) were invited to interrogate the progress of environmental education and its sustainability iterations (including ESD and ESF) and identify to what extent environmental education has fulfilled its hopes and ends. In this presentation we specifically examine how ChildhoodNature is positioned within these various internationally recognised educational discourses.
