Sports involvement is an important factor in Physical Education, but no instrument is available to date examining integrated factors attribute to sports involvement. Based on Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological System Theory, a second order factor model was established, which comprises 4 subscales: school factor, community factor, family factor and personal factor. The first confirmatory factor analysis (n=1988) revealed that an adjusted second order 4-factor model described the observed data and content of factors best, which was cross-validated in another sample (n=2055) in second confirmatory factor analysis (CFI=0.910, RMSEA=0.059). Cronbach’s α and inter-scale correlations were satisfactory. In conclusion, this study indicated a reliable and stable instrument to measure adolescent sports involvement, and provided support for the content and construct validity of the model.
