Sociofamilial Environments and Digital Competence Appropriation Process in K–12 Children: The Problem of Social Inclusion

Abstract

The research aims to identify, analyze, evaluate and understand the Digital Competence (DC) of K12 students. As well as the influence of this learning on the processes of social inclusion in four communities of Spanish territory (Galicia, Madrid, Castilla la Mancha and Castilla y León). It is a qualitative research through 12 case studies of an instrumental type (Stake, 1998). Results show that there are differences in the ways technology is perceived and reported in terms of different indicators of socio-cultural and economic capital of families. The development of the Digital Competence (DC) has great educational and social relevance in contemporary society. It is a key aspect that will enable equal opportunities and economic development, citizen participation and social inclusion.
