This paper presents a set of education indicators that describe how education in the United States compares with that in other Group of Twenty (G-20) countries, which are among the most industrialized countries in the world and the major economic partners of the United States. The indicators in the paper use the most current data provided by OECD and IEA—including Education at a Glance 2016, PISA 2015, TIMSS and TIMSS Advanced 2015, and PIRLS 2016—and shed light on a host of issues, including access to education, equity of resources, and outcomes such as educational attainment, performance on standardized tests, and employment rates. Overall, the paper provides timely, policy-relevant information and useful findings for generating future educational research.
