This paper discusses a sample from a larger study on the educational experiences of Latin@s based on semi-structured interviews with individuals who primarily live in South Texas. The narratives obtained provide insight into subtractive schooling practices experienced by respondents prior to and after the implementation of the Bilingual Education Act of 1968. A majority of respondents were not provided with any language support programs when they entered school or throughout their educational trajectory. Some participants were provided with ESL services and had teachers who assisted them.
