Classroom teaching and athletic coaching in K-12 schools is a career pathway that allows educators to connect their academic and athletic social identities. The purpose of this study has been to gauge the acculturation of teacher-coaches in K-12 school settings with a focus on the influence of athletic coaching. Using statistical analyses, the researchers found significance in two areas. An ANOVA test revealed a significant difference between genders on acculturation rates of teacher-coaches with males having higher acculturation rates than females. A second ANOVA test revealed a significant difference between teaching pathways on acculturation rates of teacher-coaches, which makes the case for future studies to examine various teaching pathways and their impact on the beliefs and experiences of teacher-coaches.
