In this paper, the authors describe how one graduate school of education designed and built a comprehensive assessment system to capture and analyze teacher candidates’ performance data during their teacher education programs. This quantitative case study examines the ongoing work of utilizing data collected from all teacher candidates to inform program improvement and consider next steps in addressing calls for outcomes-based accountability. Findings from analyses reveal the powerful potential of the comprehensive assessment system to support data driven reflection and improvement. Implications for teacher preparation programs are discussed.
