The Triad Project was designed to engage teacher candidates, mentor teachers, and science education faculty in professional development around the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This mixed methods study evaluated the effectiveness of the Triad Project in bringing about positive changes in teacher knowledge, skills, attitudes, beliefs and practice. Results indicated that participation in the Triad Project increased participant knowledge and skills around teaching to the NGSS in several keys areas, positively affected teacher performance in the classroom with lessons, and impacted participant beliefs and attitudes about effective ways of teaching science and raised their levels of expectations of their students. As evaluated through Desimone’s (2009) TPD conceptual framework, the Triad Project produced desired outcomes of effective TPD programs.
