Transnationality and Teacher Educator Identity Development: A Collaborative Autoethnographic Study

Sun, April 15, 8:15 to 10:15am, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Concourse Level, Concourse C Room

Abstract

Transnational teacher educators are those cross national, social, and cultural borders to prepare teachers. Many transnational teacher educators face challenges in their teaching, even though their diverse backgrounds and identities can be a powerful way to connect with prospective teachers. In this collaborative auto-ethnographic study, we examine how our identities as transnational teacher educators changed while teaching a diversity course in the U.S. We conclude that how the backgrounds of transnational teacher educators can be an asset, rather than a liability, in teaching and professional growth.
