This paper documents the experiences of faculty and student participants in the Renuncia Ya movement in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Participants indicated that the autonomy granted to a local university, the faculty's embrace of critical pedagogy, and a tradition of student leadership were influential developing the leadership that initiated the the anti-corruption movement that arose in 2015.
