This quasi-experimental study was conducted to investigate the effects of a web-based graphic organizer (WBGO) with embedded self-regulated learning strategies on the persuasive essay writing in inclusive classrooms. The participants included 109 6th-graders (including 48 struggling writers) and 111 7th-graders (including 48 struggling writers). Data on the number of words, sentences, transition words, and holistic writing quality were collected at pretest, posttest, and maintenance. The preliminary analysis reveals that students using WBGO outperformed students in the control groups on ALL measures. Significant differences were maintained for the transition words and holistic writing quality when the WBGO was removed. Technology implementation advantages and challenges as well as the perceptions of teachers and students with disabilities while using WBGO will be discussed.
