Speaking Back From the Margins: Counting the Experiences and Beliefs of Asian American Females Striving to Teach for Social Justice in Teacher Education

Abstract

Our work in teacher education calls for us to confront the struggles for public education. To do this, we must  consider the times in which we are living, the historical arcs that shape our present realities and how they impact our work with our teacher candidate students.  This paper presents the narratives of four Asian American women teacher educators, all early career, non-tenured mothers, sharing their personal and professional identities, as well as their hopes, struggles, and strategies for engaging in the work of social justice in teacher education.
