Current achievement-based evaluation systems of school leaders have led to deficient methods of assessing the needs of today’s schools to develop the next generation of citizens for a postmodern and socially just society. The need to evaluate school leaders performance beyond the narrow framework of student achievement becomes significantly important if we are to design evaluation systems that accurately assess effective leadership focused on the students’ complete education. This study reveals that there are other practices school leaders can engage in that will address student learning in all areas and address the educational needs of the whole child. This study paves the road for the development of better evaluation systems to keep the dreams and possibilities of public education alive.
