This paper shares findings from a research study that utilizes journal writing and an instructional intervention with preservice general educators in a literacy methods course. Findings suggest it is possible to shift narrow, ability-orientated dispositions to broader and more inclusive conceptualizations that support struggling readers and students with disabilities. An in-depth within-case study of one cohort of participants indicates that dispositional development toward inclusive literacy can predict a preservice teacher’s implementation of inclusive classroom literacy practices.
