The heightened racist nativist climate in the United States frames the undocumented community as undeserving of educational access and opportunities. To push for educational equity involves understanding the experiences of exclusion and marginalization experienced by students in educational spaces and processes. This research contributes to this work by employing Latino race theory (LatCrit) to capture the experiences of undocumented students in their transition to college. Drawing from interviews with 10 undocumented Chicanx/Latinx identified youth in their first year of college, this work gained insight into how racist nativism underlies the experiences of undocumented immigrant youth of color in higher education through racist nativist microaggressions and through their experience with racist nativism institutionalized through policy and process in the transition to college.
