This qualitative study explores the multiple ways feminist theory and method impact the research and scholarly work of doctoral students from multiple educational disciplines who enrolled in a critical feminist methodology course almost three years ago. In particular, we present our research within a feminist framework that draws upon the tensions and contradictions students felt depending on their varying levels of interest within the course and the depth in which students committed to work through these tensions in an effort to appreciate feminist inquiry in their own scholarly work. Finally, we suggest qualitative methodology is developed beyond academic training, is ontological, but must move beyond purely ontological considerations and push us to disrupt our own complicity in order to transform.
