Intelligent Support for Collaboration: A Literature Review and Proposed Framework

Mon, April 16, 12:25 to 1:55pm, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Third Floor, Americas Hall 1-2 - Exhibit Hall

Abstract

The Assessment and Teaching of 21st Century Skills project (ATC21S™) laid the foundation for the knowledge, skills, and abilities their research suggested would be imperative to succeed in the modern employment market of the developed world. Collaborative Problem-Solving (CPS) skills are the focus of a great amount of attention recently. This presentation examines existing work on assessing and supporting CPS skills in the assessment and learning communities. Based on the results of the review and existing data, we present a framework for describing existing supporting strategies and informing the design of new ones. Examples of supporting strategies using the ETS Platform for Collaborative Assessment and Learning (the EPCAL platform; Hao et al., in press) are used to illustrate this approach.
