This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the joint use of propensity and prognostic scores to control for selection bias in observational research. To this end, a simulation study is conducted to compare different adjustment methods (i.e., propensity scoring, prognostic scoring, and the joint use of propensity and prognostic scores) in terms of their abilities to recover a simulated treatment effect. The impact of different propensity score estimation methods, control group size, and outcome domains on the performance of adjustment methods are also examined.
