New Tech Network, Reform Partners, and the Academic Achievement of Public High School Students

• In Event: Strategies for Turning Around Underperforming Schools: Have We Learned Anything New?

Abstract

Guided by program theory, this study examines the impact of the New Tech Network reform model on the achievement high school students in a southeastern state. Using Hierarchical Linear Modeling, this study employs a model that estimates the impact of New Tech on English II and Algebra I state assessments while controlling for student (ie: previous achievement) and school (ie: concentration of poverty) characteristics. Preliminary findings reveal the impact on student achievement for schools implementing with low fidelity is inconclusive. Additional research is needed to examine the impact of schools implementing with higher degrees of fidelity.
