This study investigates the use of rehearsals with one group of in-service teachers during professional development. Professional development represents an important domain in which to explore how rehearsals might support enactment of effective disciplinary teaching practice as well as deepen our understanding of how practice-based models of teacher education can be implemented across learning contexts. Building from work done in pre-service teacher education, this study explores the ways that rehearsal differs for in-service teachers. Analysis relied on video of rehearsals and teacher self reports. Findings suggest that teachers became active participants in the rehearsals, pausing to raise questions and make suggestions. Additionally, learning carried forward across practice sessions and teachers reported increased willingness to practice and confidence in their teaching.
