College Students' Most Significant Experience: A Framework for Transformative Learning

Abstract

This descriptive study examined the most significant experiences of a group of thirty college seniors and recent graduates on a university in the northeastern United States. Each was asked to describe the experience in college that had the most impact on him or her. The findings were used to construct a framework for understanding what types of experiences were most likely to have a significant impact on the personal and professional development of undergraduates.
