Multicultural Lessons Learned From a Chinese Bilingual After-School Program: Using Technology to Support Ethnolinguistic Children's Cultural Production

Mon, April 16, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Sheraton New York Times Square, Floor: Second Floor, Metropolitan West Room

Abstract

This qualitative case study explores how instructional technology further mediates the uses of digital artifacts (i.e., iPads, digicams, Wikispaces) to support Chinese bilingual children’s cultural production and their science and literacy learning in an afterschool program at a New York City public school. The analysis of student work further illustrates rich classroom discussions for multicultural practitioners.
