Sat, April 14, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Park Central Hotel New York, Floor: Ballroom Level, Ballroom

Abstract

Leadership can have a huge impact on school effectiveness. Professional development has also shown to impact student outcomes and overall school effectiveness. This study seeks to answer the research question: How do school leaders use professional development in successful schools based on Parsons' Model of Organizational Effectiveness? Using two separate case studies, interviews and survey data were collected and analyzed. School leaders used peer coaching, conference attendance, as well as typical in-service delivery in improving teaching practices and student achievement.
