The Perception of Progress: Understanding Student Satisfaction With Institutional Response to Campus Discrimination

Abstract

Students have varying levels of satisfaction with administrative response to incidences of campus discrimination. This study, using national survey data and regression, examines the various characteristics, experiences, and perceptions that influence and mitigate students’ satisfaction to these issues. Particularly, this study is interested in how students’ perceptions and experiences with racial discrimination, harassment, and class material hold a relationship with their satisfaction with campus responses to discrimination. Findings from this study aim to explore how institutions can better serve and respond to the concerns of students regarding racism, discrimination, and campus racial climate.
