This paper describes the results of a study that utilizes Adaptive Choice-Based Conjoint Analysis to extend the existing teacher recruitment and retention literature by introducing a novel survey technique that allows for the valuation of teacher preferences. 2212 secondary teachers from the state of Utah were asked to choose between hypothetical school options that varied in both salary and select workplace conditions often cited in the recruitment and retention literature. This study estimates the relative importance of thirteen factors influencing teacher recruitment and retention and estimates the monetary value of different levels of select factors. Descriptive results and implications for administrators and researchers are discussed.
