Abstract

A growing number of community-school partnerships, such as full-service community schools, embrace community-driven leadership and comprehensive, holistic services and supports to meet the needs of its constituents. Such complex and holistic community-school partnerships increasingly call for more participatory and dynamic survey methods to understand school processes and impacts. Yet, very few current assessments fully captures the complex nature of these partnerships nor leverages the perspectives of all stakeholders within this initiative, including young people, parents, school staff and community partners. This study outlines the theoretical underpinnings, design and validation of The Community School Assessment - one of the first 360-degree surveys (to date) to comprehensively assess community school implementation.
