Despite arguments offered in favour of digital game-based learning, empirical research supporting student learning from games is rather limited (Annetta, Minogue, Holmes, & Cheng, 2009; Dickey, 2013), especially in the context of K-12 education. While games may support student learning, more data is needed to buttress claims that students do in fact learn through playing games. The central goal of this mixed-methods study is to understand how the use of a game impacted student learning of human and physical geography concepts.
