Preservice and inservice training often does not adequately prepare early career teachers for the challenges of preventing and managing disruptive behaviors. Interactive Virtual Training (IVT; Authors, 2017) is a simulation training model that aims to support early career teachers’ efforts to address disruptive behaviors by teaching evidence-based behavior management practices derived from the literature on behavioral parent training and coaching (e.g., Denton & Hasbrouck, 2009; Kazdin, 2005). This poster will illustrate the development and evaluation of a coding system that embeds critical common practice elements designed to support early career teachers to prevent and manage disruptive behaviors. Implications will be discussed for researchers and educators interested in evaluating innovative methods to support early career teachers’ behavioral management skills.
