The importance of exploring multiracial college student experiences rises proportionately with the percentage of U.S. citizens that identify as multiracial. This paper is an analysis of research on multiracial college students 1990 – 2016 using citation networks constructed from social network analysis. Understanding how research on multiracial college student’s influences and is influenced by related research sheds light on the construction of knowledge about multiracial college students, their experiences, and varying contributions. Existing research has short roots/ is loosely connected. Studies represented have similar aims but draw from varying bodies of research. Articles in the study rarely cite or are cited by others. Greater connectivity is essential and will add weight to these studies as core understandings about multiracial college students.
