The aim of this collaborative self-study is to describe how we (three doctoral students and one faculty) understood our entry into the world of self-study research. Our insights throughout the journey, the steps we took to embrace a new and challenging method, and our subsequent evolution as beginning self-study practitioners comprise the findings of this paper. This study builds on prior research by the authors (in press) and aims to provide insight into how we developed our understanding as emerging self-study researchers.
