Designing a Sustainable Teacher Residency: Engagement, Compensation, Instruction, and Impact

Abstract

The purpose of this session is to demonstrate the benefits of a sustainable teacher residency, including a review of key principles for designing and implementing such a program. It will be important to understand how and why such programs are implemented when advocating for policy changes in teacher education. Currently there are many local and state policies that are not favorable for providing a paid internship. The field of teacher preparation needs to begin working towards making these changes.
