This study examined the contribution of math self-concept to the development of math anxiety among a nationally representative sample of adolescents (N=3116, 48% female). Latent growth curve modeling revealed an increase in math anxiety and a decrease in math self-concept from grade 7 to grade 12. Multivariate latent growth curve modeling showed that change in math self-concept predicted change in math anxiety overtime.
