New emerging online technologies have made possible dynamic changes in the structure of the online environment to address varying needs of diverse learners. A qualitative case study of a veteran mathematics educator designing, teaching and assessing online mathematics education courses for six years shed light on student-centered instructional approaches that informed design and redesign of online activity structures, assessment strategies and integration of technological tools. The findings have important implications for understanding elements of online course redesign, creating a space for online instructors to establish connections between theoretical perspectives of teaching and learning and their applications into online instructional design contexts.
