This research explored the perceived impact of an information and communications technology (ICT) tool for Earth science teachers in a large urban school district, as well as exploring teachers' perceived values, beliefs, and barriers related to technology. Data were collected through individual teacher interviews, surveys, and weblogs. Findings demonstrated the tool had positive impacts on teachers' planned implementation of student-centered resources and increases in frequency and quality with which resources for classroom instruction were integrated in student-centered ways. Findings point to efficiency as a critical factor in teacher adoption of ICT. Results suggest that ICT tools should be designed for short usage sessions and evaluated for strong usability, focused on ease of resource access, intuitive navigation, and efficient work paths.
