Research on how Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs) create conditions for Asian American and Pacific Islander college students to thrive is sparse. Using a blended case study and grounded theory approach, this study explores strategies AANAPISI programs use to foster optimal environments for AAPI and other college students. Qualitative data were analyzed from 163 interviewees, programmatic documents, and participant observations across five AANAPISI programs. The five programs utilized four main approaches to cultivate optimal environments for AAPI and other college students to thrive: (1) expanding existing structures, (2) creating new programs, (3) collaborating with larger support networks, and (4) transforming campus perspectives by increasing awareness of AAPI issues. Implications for research and practice are discussed.
