Today, Latina/o students college enrollment is at an all-time high. This is especially salient for Latino males who have historically lagged in college-going and degree attainment rates compared to their female counterparts. Although there has been an increase in Latina/o students college enrollment, closer examination is needed to provide a clearer picture of what these college-going rates actually mean. Using national data from the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:09), this study utilized logistic regression with binary and ordinal responses to predict the likelihood of patterns in college choice and enrollment. Findings suggest an overrepresentation of Latino males at 2-year institutions due to factors related to the high school experience, high school counselors, and counseling support.
