This collaborative autoethnographic study uses embodied text as frame to explore the experiences of Black pre-tenure faculty who are critical and inclusive pedagogues (CIPs). Study findings suggests that the text that Black pre-tenure faculty who are critical-inclusive pedagogues embody permits their bodies to be read and consumed by students in ways that invalidate their humanity. By examining how Black pre-tenure bodies are scrutinized, this research aims to assist higher education institutions retain and support the faculty whose expertise they rely upon to create transformative, equitable and identity-affirming learning learning environments.
