Sat, April 14, 4:05 to 5:35pm, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Third Floor, Americas Hall 1-2 - Exhibit Hall

Abstract

Effective self-determination education is crucial for students with disabilities yet many educators struggle to teach self-determination skills and knowledge in meaningful ways. Existing curricula are available to help teachers incorporate self-determination lessons into classrooms but challenges and limitations to using the curricula exist. To determine ways to improve self-determination curricula, a review of existing literature was completed. Fifteen curricula were analyzed and existing research findings were used to identify suggestions for improving self-determination education.
