Abstract

Most of the research focused on Black male teachers have been conducted by Black male researchers who are former classroom teachers. While Black men are leading this research effort, many Black female researchers have accepted responsibility for conducting research of Black male teachers. This presentation will capture how pre-service Black male teachers collaborated with a Black female researcher to their examine subjectivity, positionality and reflexivity in research of Black male teachers. These qualitative research concepts are important components to helping Black male teachers understand their experiences and perspectives and how they influence the research process. The concepts are also important to helping pre-service Black male teachers to better understand Black female researchers stake in research of Black male teachers.
