College Readiness as an Identity Process

Abstract

This paper aims to reframe college readiness as an identity process. Previous definitions of college readiness have been limited in scope, failing to include students' context and cultural experience. Framing college readiness as an identity process addresses this and provides a new perspective for viewing the college readiness experiences of underrepresented youth and addressing the aspiration attainment gap.
