This presentation provides the “voices” of African American adolescent male students’ perspectives on the importance of an Afrocentric education. This young population is faced with negative images in their likeness and not learning about their culture; some feel inferior as public education is an attack on their “Blackness”. Within this paper, characteristics of African American adolescent male students developing an Afrocentric social looking glass image was conceptualized from the viewpoint of an Africana research method. To ensure that the evidence presented was examined from the perspective in alignment with Asante’s (2017) Revolutionary pedagogy. This is a phenomenological qualitative research design, which incorporated Asante’s works and Cooley’s (1902) social looking glass theory.
