It has been widely accepted that principals’ leadership has a direct impact on
student achievement, teacher instruction, and the school climate (Jacob, Goodard, Kim, Miller, & Goodard, 2015; Moorosi & Bush, 2011; Leithwood, Harris, & Hopkins, 2008). Although these findings are well known, limited research exists on best approach to effectively develop school principals to become highly effective practitioners (Jacob, Goodard, Kim, Miller, & Goodard, 2015; Koeppel, & Rinehart, 2008). Those that study leadership preparation and development programs, question whether principal training programs are equipping them with the necessary to address emerging challenges of the American schoolhouse (Moorosi & Bush, 2011). Therefore, this study focuses on examining how blending theoretical leadership frameworks can improve principals’ knowledge and practices.
