Educational Prosperity: The Critical Transition From Learning-to-Read to Reading-to-Learn Among Cohorts of Students With Low Preliteracy Skills

Mon, April 16, 10:35am to 12:05pm, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Second Floor, Gramercy Room East

Abstract

Educational Prosperity (Willms, 2015) is an evaluation framework for monitoring children’s developmental outcomes that is being used in a number of jurisdictions in North America as well as in PISA for Development, an OECD initiative for low- and middle-income countries. The framework sets out the ‘prosperity outcomes’ for six stages of development, from conception to secondary school graduation, and the ‘foundations for success,’ which are the family, institutional, and community factors which drive the prosperity outcomes.
